Starting Sunday, June 18, work to abate asbestos on the I-27 bridges at US 70 and SH 194 will take place overnight. Recent extreme daytime temperatures have drawn concerns for the work crew and operation, said Mike Craig, P.E., Texas Department of Transportation Plainview Area engineer.
“Crews will be working from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.,” Craig said. “We’re concerned with both the heat stress that may be placed on the work crew and the adverse effect the high temperatures may have on the abatement process,” Craig said.
Motorists can still expect lane closures and should anticipate traffic delays and are urged to use caution when driving through the work zone, since crews will be working in close proximity to traffic.
