Several weeks ago, dozens of people got together for the “Walk for Wishes,” a time to get some exercise, hang out with family and friends, and most importantly donate to a good cause.

This is the third year for the walk, and it all started with Texas Tech’s WishMakers on Campus.

“It’s so amazing these college students getting after it out there asking for donations. They really truly believe in our mission and you can tell by the way that they’re raising money,” said Jordan Perry, Development Officer for Make-A-Wish.

This year the team raised $20,000 which is enough to give at least three kids their dream wishes.

“The great thing about Make-A-Wish, is everyone was on board. There’s not a lot of selling that goes along with it because everyone’s on the same team. So I mean it was really great. I definitely couldn’t have done it without all my members and then just all the support of Make-A-Wish and the families for sure,” said Claire Williams, Organizer of Walk for Wishes.

The team is already working on next year’s walk.

“So proud and so thankful that we have the WishMakers on campus. These girls work so hard every year to help grant wishes to these children. Most of them are wish granters so they get to actually see a direct result of the money they raise,” said Perry.

If you’re unable to volunteer your time to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, there are several fundraisers going on you may be interested in.

Mr. Credit Solutions is a credit restoration company, it helps people improve credit scores.

Now through June 30th, the company is donating every consultation fee to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“So we do require a consultation fee whenever you come in for the appointment. So we are taking the fee that we get from that and donating it to Make-A-Wish,” said Shayla Mckinney, Credit Consultant.

“A wish is something very powerful and if we can make that come true for as much kids as possible then we’re doing something right,” said Mckinney.

If you’d like to help grant wishes, and eat a meal at the same time, Jersey Mike’s has just the thing for you. Over Memorial Day weekend twenty percent of all sales will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. All month long, people have been donating to the star program.


“Jersey Mike’s is really big into doing fundraisers especially helping non-profits it’s part of our core as a corporation. So we kind of fit any non-profit we can find that needs the help and wants the help. Make-A-Wish was just so awesome and we wanted to definitely work with them.” said Josylynn Reid, Manager Jersey Mike’s.
