A motorcyclist is dead following an early morning crash in Central Lubbock, according to the Lubbock Police Department.

The accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. Saturday on 19th Street near Avenue S.

Officers responded the area and located an injured motorcycle driver, according to a news release from LPD.

The male was taken by EMS to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died.

Police identified the victim early Saturday evening as Robert Macias, Jr., 24.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation by LPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit.
