Meteorologist Alex O’Brien joined the KAMC Storm Team as the weekday morning meteorologist in July 2017.
Alex graduated in 2016 with a bachelor degree in Meteorology and a minor in Mathematics from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Before moving to Lubbock, she worked as a producer and meteorologist for WeatherNation, a national 24/7 weather tv network, where she covered major weather events across the nation from Hurricane Matthew to tornado outbreaks.
As part of her love and respect for weather, she also has experience with storm chasing. She has spent thousands of miles on the road with meteorology professors, fellow students, and colleagues tracking severe weather in the Great Plains. It was in the Texas panhandle that she saw her first tornado, outside the city of Canadian, in 2015. With this first-hand experience with severe weather, Alex aims to keep you advised during dangerous weather.
Perhaps it is her Colorado roots, but outside of KAMC studios Alex likes to hike and stay active. You may also find her eating tacos at Fuzzy’s or Torchy’s! Find her on social media as Meteorologist Alex O’Brien on Facebook and @WXAlexOBrien on twitter.
