Lexi Birmingham joined the KAMC Storm Team as the weekend meteorologist in June 2017.

A Florida Native, Lexi traded in the sunshine and hurricanes to get a taste of what West Texas weather can do. Coming from a military family and having to move around the country, she has experienced all sorts of crazy weather events, including the May 1998 tornado outbreak in Oklahoma and Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

Lexi’s journey began at Northwest Florida State College where she earned her A.A. degree, before transferring to Florida State University and earning her bachelors in Meteorology and a certificate in Emergency Management in May 2017.

While at Florida State, Lexi participated in the FSU Weather Show; an all student run newscast. She and her fellow students did coverage of Hurricanes Hermine and Matthew in 2016, which earned nation-wide recognition. This fueled her passion for broadcast meteorology and delivering the best coverage when severe weather strikes.

Lexi was also a member of the North Florida Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association. This organization was a great opportunity for her to go out in the community and educate them about weather and safety.

In her free time, she enjoys staying active, watching sports (football and hockey are her favorites), writing stories, or catching a good movie (especially if it’s Marvel).
