Phil Mayer joined everythinglubbock.com as a digital sports and news writer in October of 2019. He hails from New York City, but went to college at Southern Methodist University in Dallas before moving to Lubbock.
He graduated SMU in May 2015 with degrees in Journalism and Sport Management. While at college, he reported on SMU sports for 247Sports and The Daily Campus. He interned for KDFW News in Dallas in the summer of 2017 and the National Football Foundation in 2018.
Phil has had a passion for sports from a young age. Growing up in New York City, he frequently attended Knicks, Yankees and Mets games as a child. He’s an avid baseball, basketball and football fan, at both the collegiate and professional levels. He is thrilled to cover Texas Tech sports.
When Phil isn’t working, he’s probably watching a sports game or reading a sports article.
