The Humane Society of North Texas partnered with the City of Vernon to rescue more than 100 cats last week.
According to the Vernon Record, the animals were seized from the 3500 block of 1st Street last Thursday.
Officials with the Humane Society of North Texas say when they arrived on scene, the stench of ammonia and feces was unbearable, even from the street in front of the house.
Inside, they reported finding 108 cats living in what they call deplorable conditions inside of the 1,100 square-foot home.
Officials say the cats did not have food bowls or litter boxes.
They also record finding the floor of an entire room was covered in wood shavings to serve as a litter box.
Officials say the majority of the cats are suffering from parasitic infestations and respiratory infections, while five have been diagnosed with life-threatening conditions.
Many of the females are pregnant, and one has given birth since being taken to the Humane Society in Fort Worth.
