Lubbock’s 10th Annual Severe Weather Awareness Day is being held Saturday at the Science Spectrum.
The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Science Spectrum is located at 2579 South Loop 289.
The NWS Lubbock Office will have an information booth and we will host two severe weather safety meetings, and one Skywarn Spotter Training session. These will be held at the Science Stage in the Science Spectrum.
Meteorologist Sarah Dillingham, co-host of The Weather Channel’s Weather Underground TV program, is a special guest for this year’s event. Dillingham is a Texas Tech University graduate and was a former meteorologist on KLBK-TV.
The Tornado/Severe Weather Safety Presentations are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and should last 30-40 minutes. The Skywarn Spotter Training session is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and should last around one hour.
