Two Pampa men were killed in a Thursday night crash between a pickup truck and a freight train.
Pampa Police Sergeant Brian Massey said that the accident occurred at 11:29 p.m. at the Starkweather crossing.
The passenger in the truck, Austin Rodgers, 23, of Pampa, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace.
The driver, Daniel Ortiz, 20, of Pampa, was transported from the scene to PRMC by Pampa EMS, and later died from his injuries.
Sergeant Massey said that the train was traveling eastbound, and the truck was traveling southbound on Starkweather Street at the time of the crash.
Massey said that evidence and statements taken at the scene indicated that Ortiz drove around the railroad crossing stop arm, which was down.
An autopsy has been ordered on Ortiz. No Burlington Northern train personnel were injured.
