On Thursday, Lubbock Police asked the public’s help to find three children ages 8, 5, and 2.  They were identified as Mariah Martinez, Jeremiah Martinez and Leimiah Martinez McGavok.

On Friday, EverythingLubbock.com broke the story that the children’s mother, Amanda Martinez, was jailed for refusing to provide the location of the children.

A further look into court records provided even more details.

Children’s Protective Services received a report about the children on October 5.

“The report stated that mother and paramour would drink excessively and engage in domestic violence,” court records said.

“The report also indicated that [her] paramour … threatened to drive the vehicle into the pond and kill the family. The report stated that [he] punched Jeremiah Martinez in the nose during a fight …,” court records also said.

“The report stated mother, Amanda Martinez, drinks to the point of intoxication and physically fights with Mariah Martinez. The report also stated concerns of sexual abuse of the children due to Amanda Martinez moving her and the children in with maternal grandfather, a registered sex offender.”

On October 6, CPS confronted Amanda Martinez about the report that her boyfriend threatened the family.

“She … stated that [he] was just playing about the incident where he was going to drive the family into the pond and kill them.”

Martinez also denied alcohol or drug abuse.  CPS asked four adults in the family to submit to drug tests.  On October 17, two of them tested positive for methamphetamine and one tested positive for marijuana.

Martinez tested positive for methamphetamine according to the court records.

Also on October 17, school officials told CPS the children were not in school.  On October 21, CPS filed court documents to remove the children.  By then, the kids could not be found.

On November 1, Martinez appeared in court and refused to provide the location of the children.  She was jailed for contempt of court.  She will have to serve eight days or until the children are located – whichever comes first.

Lubbock Police said anyone with information on the location of the children should please call Crime Line at 806-741-1000.
