Lubbock Police are looking for help finding two suspects wanted for an armed robbery at Picantes on 34th Street Friday evening.

Picantes Supervisor Leticia Palos told KLBK and EverythingLubbock.com that two men came in with disguises at about 8:40 p.m. Friday.

“It happened so fast and the guys, they wore ski masks for one but I didn’t recognize them,” Palos said.

Palos said they took car keys, cell phones, personal belongings, and tip money collectively from five employees and two customers in the building at the time.

Now surrounding businesses on 34th Street said they are worried about crime in this area.

“Immediately I took precaution for my business because when you’re as busy you have to prepare yourself for the same type of incidents,” Miss Ann’s Diner Manager Jarron Hearn said.

Miss Ann’s has installed more than five cameras in and around their property, as well as, add more lighting during the dark hours.

“My boss here, she just upgraded outside to where it’s really lit up at night,” Hearn said. “She takes her own measures to make sure that we’re safe at our own restaurant. What you just have to monitor is usual customers, people in the area, how they’re dressed. If you’re looking crazy in the winter time or summer time. Suspicious activity you just have to watch.”

Other businesses said they’re starting to close early, add more security, and increased awareness for their employees and customers.

“I just want these thieves to get a job,” Hearn said. “Quit causing harm to the families and the businesses because sometimes it causes people to lose employees because they don’t feel safe. It’s a really big effect on more than just one thing.”
