The El Paso Department of Public Health released numbers during a press conference on Monday, regarding the tuberculosis exposure at Frank Macias Elementary School in Clint ISD.
Tests were conducted on 149 students and eight staff members. Of those, 35 tested positive, 120 negative and two tests are pending.
Health officials say 29 students tested positive and six adults.
During the initial round of testing, the El Paso Department of Public Health said they identified 163 as possibly being exposed.
Of those 149 were tested. Five families chose to have their child tested some place other than the health department, while one family is out of town. Eight students have not yet been able to be contacted.
The health department says they will start TB testing on a second cohort starting Wednesday, July 8. This includes and additional 40 students and all 100 staff members.
Testing for students will start at 8 am to 10 am and testing for staff will take place from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm at Frank Macias Elementary School.
