Ready to adopt a duck? Not a real duck of course but a yellow plastic one. The 3rd annual Duck Derby will take place to get children and their parents involved.

The event takes place on Saturday, April 30th, at the Buddy Holly Recreation Area.

Christy McGill, event coordinator, says there are 3,450 ducks to be “adopted” and dropped down a river. The first seven across the finish line will win prizes. The dropping of the ducks into the pond will occur at 2 p.m. so don’t miss out.

Along with the duck race, there will be other attractions for a day of family fun. One attraction is painting ducks with Painting With a Twist. Owner Ronda Hoes tells us the kids love painting the ducks and some interesting art is created.
