West Texas Endurance will host the 4th annual Willie McCool Memorial Half Marathon, 5K & 10K on Saturday, April 2 in Lubbock.
The event will take place at the Silent Wings Museum at 8:00 a.m.
A donation will be made to the Willie McCool Scholarship Fund at Coronado High School.
“We are delighted to have this race named after our son. Long distance running helped forge the man that Willie McCool would become. Running at Coronado High School was key to his going to the Naval Academy,” said his parents, Audrey and Barry McCool in a news release.
“He met his future wife through running; running was always in his heart and an important part of his life.”
West Texas Endurance is a full service event production company based in the hub of the South Plains – Lubbock, Texas. They offer running events for the family and endurance events such as a
half marathon and a cycling event.
