#5 Texas Tech fell to West Virginia 8-7 on senior day to wrap up the Big 12 regular season.
Texas Tech fell into a 5-1 hole early in the game, but used a four-run fifth inning, that included two different home runs, a solo shot from Tech senior first baseman Eric Gutierrez, a walked in run after a WVU balk, and a two-run blast by Tech sophomore infielder Orlando Garcia.
The Red Raiders used seven different pitchers in game three against WVU. Tech junior left-handed pitcher Hayden Howard appeared in a relief role and was credited with the loss.
In the seventh inning, a wild pitch from Howard, allowed the game-tying run for WVU to score.
Then in the ninth inning, WVU freshman infielder Kyle Gray hit a single into right field to score the eventual game-winning run.
Texas Tech will be back in action on Wednesday, May 25 at 12:30 p.m. CT when they face Kansas State in the Big 12 tournament.
