Running2Rescue is excited to announce that this year’s fundraiser, which raises money to fight sex trafficking, will be held June 4, 2016 at Mackenzie Park in Lubbock, Texas.
In 2015, Texas ranked second in the country for the number of reports of human trafficking. Sadly, it is known to exist in here in West Texas.
Daughters are being exploited and are at risk. Trafficking is an evil form of modern–day slavery and Running2Rescue is working to fight this injustice. A combination of two timed, competitive runs coupled with a one–mile family fun run will take place at a new and beautiful location-Mackenzie Park. Warm-up will begin at 8 a.m. and then the morning proceeds with a chip timed 10K run, to be followed by a chip timed 5K and then the Family Fun Run. In 2015, over 1,500 runners and walkers participated and this year the event expects to grow.
All monies raised benefit the OneVo!ceHome, a nonprofit based in Lubbock. This organization is in the process of securing a 100+ acre ranch to be used as a safe haven and home for restoration and healing for underage girls saved from domestic sex trafficking in our community.
