An Abernathy man was seriously injured following a rollover accident near Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport early Saturday morning.
According to the DPS, the accident occurred on Interstate 27, just south of County Road 6000 (Keuka Street), around 2:30 a.m.
Authorities said the victim was traveling northbound on the interstate when his vehicle sideswiped a tractor trailer.
The victim’s vehicle rolled several times and he was ejected.
The victim, identified as Terry Edge, 39, of Abernathy, was transported to University Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.
Edge is an officer with the Abernathy Police Department He was off-duty at the time of the accident, the DPS said.
The crash remains under investigation.
