An Abilene man was rescued Monday morning after his house exploded.
Authorities say the explosion and resulting fire occurred at 8:30 a.m., in the 3100 block of South 19th Street, which turns into Fulton Street.
Neighbors told BigCountryHomepage.com that they heard and felt an explosion, ran outside, and noticed the house was completely leveled.
The man was on his couch in the living room area. The neighbors ran inside and pulled him out although he allegedly did not want to leave.
The rescued man did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
According to the Abilene Fire Department, the home “collapsed and heavy smoke and flame were shooting in the sky.”
A dog that was likely inside at the time the explosion occurred has not been located.
The Abilene Fire Department is continue to investigate and is trying to determine what caused such a violent explosion.
