The Abilene Police Department has arrested ten in connection with a counterfeit money ring going around Abilene.

The Abilene Police Department’s Fraud Unit has been investigating the crimes for a month.

A press release stated that all ten were from the same group that operated in multiple locations around Abilene. Most are charged with forgery, among other charges. 

Abilene Police say the arrestees allegedly printed several denominations and passed them off at several businesses around the city. During a press conference, Chief Stan Standridge said some were found with meth and others tried to obstruct arrests.

The secret service will be in Abilene Thursday in conjunction with these arrests. This operation is believed to be localized to Abilene, and some money is still in circulation.

Convenience stores were the main targets, but the counterfeit money been found at businesses all around town.
