Accident Investigators on Scene of Deadly Crash

Accident investigators surveyed the scene of a deadly crash that happened over the weekend.

55-year-old Tanya Jones was killed when 24-year-old Maxwell Ezell hit her from behind. Police say Ezell had been drinking.

“There’s no reason for it at all. There’s not a reason whatsoever to do it,” Uber Driver Kevin Trauger said.

Accident investigators on the scene said Jones’ car was pushed across the road on impact, landing in the parking lot at Bolton Service. Trauger said his Uber group was rocked.

“It was rather devastating. The majority of us knew her through the group, and she was very talkative in our group, very supportive of everyone. She’s just a good person, and to know that she never made it home, just stunk.”

Trauger said it’s make him more cautious while driving at night.

“There’s times now where if I’m at a stop sign or whatnot, I’ll actually check twice instead of once, just to make sure there’s no one coming.”

Trauger had a final word about Jones’ kindness.

“Don’t judge a book by a cover, it doesn’t matter what you look like or who you are. It’s how you treat people. And when you go out of your way to treat people decently…if we all did the same thing, it would be a better world.”

His group continues to drive later hours, hoping to prevent the type of incident that killed their friend.

“You get a few minutes to make an impact on someone’s life, and if it’s keeping them off the road no matter what, it’s ten times better for everyone else.”
