The Texas Department of Public Safety said a Thursday morning accident at 8:00 a.m. took the life of a bicycle rider in Eastern Hale County.
DPS said Jose Santos Amador, 73, of Plainview was pronounced dead at the scene.
DPS said, “A GMC SUV and a bicycle were heading east on FM 1767. The vehicle did not see the bicyclist due to the sun and struck the bicyclist.”
DPS also said, “The driver of the SUV, Rogelio Recendez, 25, of Plainview was not injured.”
There was no word yet on citations or charges. The crash was still under investigation.
