Nicholas Melton, 36, of Lubbock pleaded guilty Wednesday for the May 22, 2014 crash that injured five people including a six-year-old girl who was critically injured.  Four of the five victims were children.

Police said at the time that Melton rammed his truck into other vehicles at Wal-Mart, 6315 82nd Street, after being involved in an argument.

There were reports that Melton might have been suicidal.

Three indictments against Melton were dismissed.  He pleaded guilty on two indictments.

Technically, Melton will not be sentenced until March 31.  But the terms of his plea agreement were revealed in court.

On one indictment, Melton agreed in a plea bargain to serve six years in prison.  On a second indictment, Melton agreed to serve 10 years of deferred adjudication.

That means, if he stays out of trouble, he will not have to serve any additional prison time after the six years.
