In 2007, Raul Hinojosa promised to marry his fiancé, Yvonne Lamas. But due to Hinojosa’s leukemia diagnosis, and other circumstances the wedding didn’t happen, until last Friday.

Dozens crowded in a small room inside BSA Hosptial with even more spilling outside the halls.

“He was in the hospital since October 22nd, you know whether we were married or not, like they say, through sickness and in health, till death do us part I was there for him,” said Yvonne Hinojosa, Raul’s widow.

The Amarillo couple celebrated their wedding on Friday, just hours before the groom passed away on Saturday.

And Wednesday, the newlywed buried her husband.

“My son is taking it really really bad. He’s like why, why mom, why me, why us. Why my dad. That’s all I want for Christmas is my daddy home,” said Hinojosa.
