The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to a one vehicle crash that occurred Sunday in Potter County, resulting in the death of one person.
At approximately 4:15 a.m., Calvin Kingcade, 32, of Amarillo, was driving a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis northwest on RM 1061 approximately 15 miles northwest of Amarillo. The Mercury veered to the right and off of the roadway. In an attempt to get the vehicle back onto the roadway, Kingcade over-corrected to the left, causing him to lose control. The Mercury skid across both lanes of travel and then rolled over into the left barrow ditch and through a barbed wire fence. Kingcade was not wearing his seat-belt and as a result was ejected from the Mercury and died.
Kingcade was pronounced dead on scene by Potter County, Justice of the Peace, Gary Jackson.
The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.
