American Cancer Society “Real Men Wear Pink” Kickoff on Monday, October 3 in Lubbock

In honor of breast cancer awareness month, the American Cancer Society will kick off its inaugural “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign on Monday, October 3, from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Charles Adams Gallery.

“Real Men Wear Pink” is a national campaign that encourages men to take a stand against breast cancer by supporting the American Cancer Society in their local communities. Throughout the month of October, “Real Men Wear Pink” ambassadors will encourage women in their lives and in the community to take action in the fight against breast cancer, while raising funds for research. This year’s Lubbock class of 15 ambassadors will be unveiled at the kickoff event on Monday October 3.

The American Cancer Society is determined to save lives from breast cancer by promoting early detection and prevention, funding groundbreaking research, and giving patients support wherever and whenever they need it. And breast cancer does not just affect women. More than 2,600 men in the US are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, joining the more than 240,000 women who also receive a diagnosis.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
