Since 1987, LifeGift has been giving hundreds of people in Texas a second chance at life through organ and tissue donations.
National Donate Life Month is recognized throughout April, a cause and awareness that hits especially home for the group as it aims to honor the lives of all those both needing and receiving organ and tissue donations, as well as their families.
2016 was the busiest year for the group as they were able to reach 430 organ donors, the most they’ve ever seen. This year the group says it’s one of their many goals to see that number grow.
Justin Johnson, managing director for the South Plains LifeGift regional office, says just for 2017 so far, they’ve already seen 90 to 100 donors register.
