The Sulphur Springs Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting at a local park early Monday morning. 

The Sulphur Springs Police Department is investigating an early morning murder at a local park.

Police Chief Jay Sanders said their department responded to reports of a shooting around 2 a.m. at Pacific Park on Lamar Street.

When officers made it to the scene, they found a man identified as Jonathan Young, 26, of Sulphur Springs, with multiple gun shot wounds. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:21 a.m.

Young’s body was sent to Garland for autopsy.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting.

Police issued a murder warrant for Tilton Joshua Isaiah Mapps, 20, of Greenville. Sanders stated they believe he is responsible for the death of Young.
