The American Cancer Society is hosting its first Bark For Life to kick-off Relay For Life fundraising and honor the care giving qualities of our canine best friends. The event will take place on Saturday, March 5 from 11am to 2pm at Higginbotham Park, 19th & Vicksburg.
Kendra Davison-Garza, with the American Cancer Society, says they are excited to kick-off Relay season with the canine event to fight cancer. “The Bark For Life event is an opportunity for people to celebrate canine companionship and fight back against cancer with their dogs. This is our first Bark For Life in Lubbock and we are hoping to make it an annual event. We are having nothing but positive feedback from our canine community.”
Participants can pre-register at RelayForLife.org/barktexastechtx for $10 for the first dog and $5 for the second. On-site registration the day of the event is $15 for the first dog and $5 for the second.
Everyone in the community is welcome to participate! There will be activities involving dogs and their humans, including a booth where your dogs can be micro-chipped at the event. You will also be able to register and learn more about Relay for Life.
Relay For Life of Lubbock County 2016 will be held on April 30, at Lubbock Christian University Rhodes Perrin Recreation Center. Lubbock County Event Lead, Julie Heinrich, says they are very excited to be having the Relay at a new location this year. “LCU has been so gracious in allowing us to have our Relay at the Rhodes-Perrin Recreation Center. The facility is wonderful and gives us plenty of options for indoor and outdoor activities. We are thrilled to have LCU more involved this year as well, and we are looking forward to the Relay on April 30th!”
