(CBS) — A Texas man died Sunday after being stung by bees, according to San Benito Fire Chief Raul Zuniga, CBS affiliate KGBT reports.
Rogerio Zuniga, 54, was killed during a bee attack this weekend while he was plowing corn outside of his home.
The San Benito Fire Department, Cameron County Health Department and a local pest control company are working to exterminate the bees from a pipe near a ditch and field, the fire chief said. KGBT reports the scene of the attack occurred west of the small community of Lozano.
The Cameron County Health Department will be investigating the fatal bee attack, according to Cameron County Director of Environmental Health Gus Olivares.
Cameron County residents with concerns about bees may call the Health Department at (956) 247-3599 during business hours. On weekends and after hours, residents are encouraged to call their local fire department.
