Animal Control Officer, Michael Arista, submitted his resignation of employment following the gruesome discovery of dead cats inside his work vehicle earlier this month.
The Criminal Investigations Division has continued to investigate this cruelty case and has since submitted a case to the County Attorney’s office for prosecution purposes.
Although it appears this was a tragic mistake made by Arista, the Big Spring Police Department believes it is a mistake that cannot be taken lightly.
The cruelty case is still an open investigation and the Detectives will continue to work with the County Attorney’s office regarding this incident.
This is an ongoing criminal investigation and no further comment will be made by the Big Spring Police Department.
