“As you can see my pickup truck has quite a few hail damages on it,” Horton said. “It’s pretty serious this year.”
For customers, the pounding storms comes with a price.
Scott Daw, general manager at Gillhan’s Paint and Body explains just how costly Mother Nature can be.
“The cost of damages vary,” Daw said. “The first round of storms this year we were averaging about 8 to 9 thousand a vehicle.”
Robert Jackman used to own a repair shop. He’s reopening Jack’s Kar Kare to give residents another local option.
“It’s a lot,” Jackman said. “I’ve never seen this much and I’ve been living here since 76.”
Although there aren’t many options, Daw explains there’s a few things car owners could do to minimize hail damage.
“Get under some sort of cover and watch which way it’s going,” Daw said. “Car ports or awnings are good and sometimes a tree can even protect your vehicle.”
