WICHITA FALLS, TX — Wichita Falls Police report a body was found in flood waters in the city Sunday. Officer Jeff Hughes reported an individual contacted the police department just after 11:00 Sunday morning and told authorities they found the body.
Officer Hughes says it was submerged in flood waters and extra measures had to be taken to recover it.
“It is a substantial amount of water to where the scuba team did have to respond out so the WFPD Scuba Team responded, the search and rescue team from the fire department responded,” Officer Hughes says. “I do know that they did deploy certain means used by the scuba team to get to the body.”
Officer Hughes says there’s no indication as to how long the body had been there.
He also says the body did not have an ID on it and investigators haven’t been able to determine if foul play was involved. It will be sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and positive identification.
