City Officials on Thursday morning said many North Lubbock residents will remain under a boil-water notice for another 24 hours.

Local businesses in that area told KLBK and EverythingLubbock.com that they’re being affected by this.

“It’s not ideal obviously but we’re dealing with it,” State Supported Living Center Assistant Director of Administration Jim Rodriguez said. “It’s been more of an inconvenience I would say.”

The State Center said staffers received the notice Saturday afternoon and had to adjust several procedures before and after the water was turned back on Monday for their 199 residents.

“Made sure maintenance was notified of the need,” Rodriguez said. “Made sure food services were notified because we had to get food out to our residents.”

Rodriguez added that they had to prepare their back-up water tank, make sure they have enough water bottles, adjust bathing needs, and adjust sanitation.

“As far as making tea, kool-aid, we’re having to use the bottled water to be able to do that,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said residents are able to shower after the water was turned on and they are able to properly clean different areas, like the restrooms and kitchen areas.

Rodriguez also thanked his staff for their teamwork during this time.

City officials on Thursday said they’ll be testing the water over the next day and will give the results soon.
