Boys & Girls Club Martin Luther King Day Events

The Boys & Girls Club locations are each planning an event to celebrate the MLK holiday.  The Optimist Club at 3301 Cornell will have a Men of Mentoring morning with a free breakfast and guest speakers including local community leaders, police officers, and church leaders.  The event will be held on Saturday, January 14th from 9:30 am-noon. The John Wilson Club at 3221 59th will be hosting their annual MLK Black History Bowl.  The Pancake/Waffle Breakfast will from 10:00am until 11:00am.  The MLK Black History Bowl will start at 1:00pm.  All these activities are at 3221 59th.  Call 792-2889 for more information.

The Ted Phea Club at 1801 E. 24th will be having a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at the Club.  Plans are for members to help plant trees along Avenue A with the East Lubbock Promise Neighborhood Association for the MLK National Day of Service. Call 763-0204 for more information.

The Shallowater Club at 1100 Ave. K in Shallowater will be writing “I Have a Dream” speeches applying to their school, family, friends and community. They will participate in Peace and Dove Painting and a MLK coloring contest.   Call 832-4533 ext. 2110 for more information.
