Breaking News: Arrest Made Related to Holli Jeffcoat Murder

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Department arrested the mother of Holli Jefffcoat, 18, Friday evening.  Jeffcoat was found murdered on February 10 in a Northeast Lubbock County Home.  However, Debi Holland, 38, was charged with continuous sexual assault, not murder, according to a statement from the LSO.

Jeffcoat’s stepfather and Debi Holland’s husband, James Holland, was arrested in March and charged with the continuous sexual abuse of an under-age girl related to Jeffcoat.  As of Friday no one has been directly charged in the murder.

According to court documents, Jeffcoat made an outcry of sexual abuse days before she was murdered.  She claimed James Holland impregnated her.

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office released the following written statement Friday evening:

The Lubbock Sheriff’s Office has placed  Debbi Bryant Holland (dob xx-xx-77) under arrest for Aggravated Sexual Assault. The charge stems from the continual sexual assault of her murdered daughter, Holli Jeffcoat, by her (Holland) husband James Holland, having first hand knowledge of the assault(s), and allowing them to occur.

Ms. Holland is booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center under a $500,000 bond with additional charges pending.

* Clarification: on Wednesday EverythingLubbock.com reported that James Holland dropped his request for a bond reduction. He dropped the request in one procedure called a habeas corpus, but re-issued the same request using a different legal procedure.  A hearing on the request is set for May 10.  Holland has been jailed since March 10 on a $2 million bond.
