SEAGRAVES, Texas — On Monday, Seagraves Police and other law enforcement agencies responded to an officer involved shooting around 9th Street and Avenue J at about 7:30 p.m.
According to a UMC spokesperson, both the officer and another person are at the hospital. The officer is stable, but the other person is in serious condition.
According to a statement from the Texas Department of Public Saftey, a Seagraves police officer started to pull over an individual for a traffic stop. After a short pursuit, the suspect fired at the officer.
During the gun fire, both the suspect and the officer were injured and transported to a nearby hospital, DPS said.
UMC said they closed their doors to manage crowds and protect other patients.
Lubbock Police Department said they have an officer at UMC assisting Seagraves PD with photographs. Further details were not specified.
According to a DPS statement, the Texas Rangers are investigating.
