LUBBOCK, Texas — Around 2:43 a.m. Tuesday morning, Lubbock Police responded to a car jacking that occurred at 50th Street and University Avenue, but ended at a Wells Fargo ATM.
According to a press release, a 41-year-old man was shot and transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries.
Officers were advised the victim was stopped at a red light at University and 50th Street when two armed Hispanic males got into his pick-up truck, according to a press release.
The two suspects then forced the victim to drive to an ATM in the 1300 block of 50th street. The victim was shot when he tried to run from the suspects, the release stated.
LPD said they are still searching for two Hispanic males.
UPDATE 6:27 p.m.: According to an LPD statement, the victim’s pickup truck was located by Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office deputies in the area of South University Avenue and 124th Street around 11 a.m. this morning. Police said the victim remains in critical condition.
This case remains under investigation by LPD.
