Two Lubbock businesses announced on Monday a joint effort to promote Lubbock. Reagor-Dykes Auto Group and McDougal Companies started working on a promotional video to promote Lubbock, including downtown Lubbock.
“The City of Lubbock has done a great job with getting downtown rolling, so we really didn’t feel like this was something that we should go to the city for — that this was something that we as owners and stakeholders in Lubbock ought to come up with and get this program going,” Marc McDougal said.
McDougal said part of the emphasis will be promoting Lubbock to Lubbock.
“We’re losing a lot of our great Texas Tech students to Houston, to Austin. I mean we are competing with those folks for talent, and a lot of our talent is leaving and what we want to do is give them an opportunity to invest here, and stay here,” McDougal said.
The campaign would also promote downtown.
“We need to do a better job of making Lubbock a place where more of the younger people, the millennials want to live,” Bart Reagor said.
McDougal said the two companies began working on this promotional campaign about six months ago. He said both McDougal Companies and the Reagor-Dykes Auto Group are investing in the campaign, hoping to raise funds from other private businesses to do the same.
