Everyone has such a busy schedule these last few weeks before Christmas. It’s a good time to stop in for lunch or dinner at Chimy’s, Italian Garden or Chop Chop. These restaurants are helping the Make-A-Wish foundation grant wishes for children right here on the South Plains. It’s called the “Buy a Star, Be a Star” program.

“I think it’s a great thing they’re doing. Helping people in need this time of year. basically what we’re doing is, you can buy a star and we hang it up on a wall for ya,” said Blerton Brati, owner of Italian Garden.

And if you’ve never been to the Italian Garden, it’s a place you must try. Brati said, “we are a family owned. Everything is basically our grandma’s recipe, we’ve been in Lubbock for a few years.”

If you take a trip just down the road on Broadway and University, you’ll find Chimy’s. Serving up the best margarita’s and nacho’s in town, with a side of magic.

“We’re selling the stars for a dollar. We’re trying to generate anything between three and five thousand dollars. Last year we made twenty five hundred dollars. We’re going to try to double that if possiblem,” said Alvin Morin, General Manager of Chimy’s.

If the West side is more convenient for you, Chop Chop is also participating in this fundraising event. So far, they’ve sold dozens of stars. They’ll even throw in something a little sweet for you too.

“We’re doing two different donation options. Donate a dollar and get your name on a star on the wall. Donate five dollars get your name on a star on the wall and you get a free dessert with that. So we’re just trying to raise as much money as we can for the month of December for Make-A-Wish,” said Daniel Blankenburg, General Manager of Chop Chop.

You’ll find a range of healthy meals at this Japanese fast casual restaurant.

All three restaurants say they love supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation because all the money stays right here on the South Plains, helping local children.

The fundraiser runs at all three restaurants until December 31st.
