The Cactus Theater announced Tuesday that the date of a candle light vigil for West Garza has been moved to Wednesday at 7:00 pm.  The vigil is open to the public.

Garza was shot and killed outside a Central Lubbock church Sunday evening.

The following statement comes from the Cactus Theater.

From all of us at the Cactus Theater, we pride ourselves in taking care of our giant Cactus Family. In light of these tragic events, our community of performers and musicians felt it was fitting we meet and remember West, as well as celebrate such a joyous life he lived, and helped others live. We have been in contact with the Garza and Garcia families, and have moved our Candlelight Vigil at the Cactus Theater to WEDNESDAY FEB. 10TH at 7:00 p.m. This move has been made to give a full option to those who would like to attend the Rosary in Levelland, TX on THURSDAY FEB 11TH at 7:00 p.m. The family will be posting a full Obituary soon with the full details of the Rosary, Funeral Mass, and Burial in the coming hours.

The Candlelight Vigil at the Cactus on WEDNESDAY FEB. 10TH will begin at 7:00 p.m. This is open for anyone who would like to attend. Performers, musicians, Cactus Theater patrons, friends, and family, are ALL welcome to attend this memorial. There will be stories shared about West, songs sung that were favorites of West’s performances, and prayers lifted for a great man. Pastor Jeff McCreight from Rock City will be in attendance as well.

The Cactus also invites anyone to bring chalk and write memorial messages on the sidewalk, as well as leaving flowers or other memorial items this week.

As we grieve, we ask that everyone respect the privacy of our performers and musicians, while we all deal with this tragedy. We will look onward, and keep West Garza’s legacy alive with every passing day.
