U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport arrested a military deserter with an active warrant on July 4.
Steven Michael Crim, 33, was returning to the U.S. from Sydney, Australia, when CBP officers arrested him.
Crim, a U.S. citizen, is the subject of an outstanding federal arrest warrant issued through the U.S. Army Deserter Information Point. The charges listed on the U.S. Army Provost Marshal General website include aggravated sexual assault, forced sodomy, abusive sexual contact on an adult, and making a false official statement.
“If during the course of our official duties we encounter a person wanted by another law enforcement agency, we will take the necessary steps to intercept and arrest that person,” said CBP Port Director Cleatus Hunt. “CBP officers routinely work with other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. This arrest is a recent example of the efforts we make in carrying out our law enforcement duties.”
CBP officers turned Crim over to the U.S. Army for extradition to Fort Hood, Texas.
