The Lubbock Senior Center will be hosting their annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Over 25 local agencies and businesses will be available to provide tips and information on many healthcare and fitness topics including: nutrition, T’ai Chi Chih demonstration, fitness, healthy habits, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, medications, exercise, hearing, and vision, scams, caregivers and coping with chronic illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. This event is free to the public.

On this same day across the United States, approximately 100,000 older Americans will participate in local National Senior Health and Fitness Day events at over 1,000 locations.  National Health and Fitness Day is in its 23rd year and has become the nation’s largest annual health promotional event for older adults. It is typically held on the last Wednesday in May and falls during Older Americans Month. The goal of this day is to provide information to older Americans on how to keep healthy and fit.
