The Central Texas Area Chiefs of Police and Sheriff’s Association has issued the following statement regarding the tragic events in Dallas:
“Like all of America the police chiefs of Central Texas are stunned at the senseless coordinated attack on police officers last night in Dallas.
“We are united in grief and sympathy for the victims in the Dallas community, particularly the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police, and their families.
“Today many people of faith and goodwill have reached out to our area police departments, offering prayer vigils and other expressions of support for Dallas. We sincerely appreciate such gestures.
“Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings invited people to pray for the victims and families today.
“We join with them in solemn prayer for the comfort of those impacted by this tragic violence.
“We will continue to do everything we can to honorably serve and protect the people of Central Texas. Today we do so with heavy hearts.”
