A seven-year-old girl has died following an accident that occurred during a Halloween evening ride in Lometa in Lampasas County.

She has been identified as Rubi Isabel Davila of San Saba.

Lometa Police Chief Bob Montgomery says the girl fell from a flat bed trailer that was carrying about a dozen children who were out trick or treating.

Her parents were with her at the time of the accident.

Chief Montgomery says the accident occurred  just before 8:15 p.m.as the vehicle pulling the trailer was making a turn from West Railway Street onto  Main Street in Lometa and was going over railroad tracks near the intersection.

Chief Montgomery says the tracks are a little rough and with the turn and the bumps, she had fallen from the trailer and it appeared the rear wheels of the trailer rolled over her.

Witnesses said she was conscious following the accident and when she arrived at the hospital.

Her parents took her to Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas in their personal car.

A  helicopter was prepared to transport her elsewhere when she died.

She was pronounced dead at 10:55 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Andrew Garcia who also requested an autopsy.

The child and parents are residents of San Saba and were visiting family members in Lometa.

Chief  Montgomery says the investigation is still open with the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Public Safety assisting.
