Children ages 5 to 12 will learn about wildlife native to area ranches at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 during the Fall Junior Rough Riders Corral at the National Ranching Heritage Center.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden Drew Spencer will give a show-and-tell style presentation that will include skulls, antlers and pelts. Children will have the opportunity to learn about the habitat and characteristics of ranch wildlife such as the white-tailed deer, mountain lion, pronghorn and others.
The Junior Rough Rider Fall Corral will be limited to 50 participants and reservations are required. The event is free to Ranching Heritage Association members and costs $5 for non-members. The National Ranching Heritage Center is a 27-acre museum and historical park located at 3121 Fourth St. The center offers education programs and exhibits to preserve and interpret ranching history and to address contemporary ranching issues.
