Citibus honored Martin Luther King Jr. Day with free rides on all of their regular routes. City Council Woman Sheila Patterson-Harris of District two joined on some of the rides this morning.

“See I’ve learned something today, I have learned the route numbers,” said Harris.

Her original goal was to travel around on the buses to see what community members think could improve the bus system.

“Like today if it had been raining like it did yesterday, everyone would have been in a bad situation,” said Harris, in reference to not all stops having shelter ports.

Harris started her adventure around 8:00 a.m this morning. She continued her journey on three additional rides and finished with route one at 11 a.m. She hopes that with this new experience she will be able to make a change in the positive direction for Citibus.

“The amount of riders is low. I am wondering if we really made it accessible to people how many people would use the services?” said Harris.

Citibus will continue the free rides throughout the evening but fare will go back to normal tomorrow.
