An item to consider a resolution terminating a construction management contract with Vanir Construction Management Inc. has been placed on the October 13th Lubbock City Council Agenda. City Councilman Steve Massengale, who chairs the Council Facilities Committee, requested that this item be placed on the agenda.
The city values its partnership with Vanir Construction Management Inc., which is currently providing services for the Citizens Tower Project. However, Councilman Massengale thought it important to consider this item at this time since the city will be entering the construction phase of the Citizens Tower Project soon.
The city wants to bring the project in on budget. Therefore, Councilman Massengale feels it is necessary to consider a change in the construction delivery method to insure the project is cost effective and completed on time.
If the current contract is terminated, the city council would move forward with a bidding process for additional services at the appropriate time. Vanir Construction Management Inc. would be welcome to bid for the new contract.
