After holding interviews with four candidates, the Lubbock City Council will hold a second meeting next week with Jarrett Atkinson of Amarillo, Texas. Meetings with additional candidates could be scheduled at a later date.

“The City Council and I are excited about selecting a new leader for our community,” Mayor Dan Pope said. “This is another step in what is a comprehensive and exciting process.”

A reception for the public to meet Mr. Atkinson will be held on Thursday, November 10th from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA) in the studio gallery. LHUCA is located at 511 Avenue K.

Current City Manager James Loomis has announced his retirement effective November 18th. City Attorney Chad Weaver will serve as Interim City Manager after that date and until a new City Manager is hired.
