The City of Plainview’s Legal Department released a statement regarding the death investigation at 1600 Kokomo in Plainview.

The statement reads as follows:

“The next of kin have been notified, and the name of the deceased is Johnny Abel Espinosa. The Texas Rangers are investigating this incident. The City wants an objective and thorough investigation and have requested their services. Today, (Thursday) the Lubbock Medical Examiner gave a verbal statement that preliminary results reveal no gunshot wounds were found on the victim of the car accident. There is no indication of shots fired by police officers. The final autopsy report is still pending due to toxicology results.”

Investigators with Plainview Police, Hale County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Rangers responded to the 1600 block of Kokomo Wednesday evening when a truck appeared to have collided with multiple cars and a fence.
