The City of Lubbock was sued last week for a crash involving a police officer in March of 2014.  The lawsuit by Beatrice Gutierrez said she and her child, Gabriel, were injured in a crash along the access road of Interstate 27 at 50th Street.

The lawsuit identified a police officer, Michael Kral, as driving a City of Lubbock pickup truck that crashed into the back of Gutierrez’ SUV.

The lawsuit said, “Intending to make a right turn to travel west on 50th Street, [Gutierrez] brought her vehicle to a stop at a yield sign waiting on cross-traffic to clear.”

The lawsuit also said, “[Gutierrez] currently seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000.00 but less than $200,000.00”

The lawsuit did not go into exact details of how badly Gutierrez and her child were hurt.  But it did say damages included medical costs.

Lubbock Police said there would be no comment on a pending lawsuit.  The attorney for Gutierrez, Rob Hogan, was not available for comment Monday.
